TERRAFORMING (JUMP007)

Terraforming is the 7th release on Hungry Man’s imprint Jump Music.

It is a sonic rollercoaster that soundtracks a future when we will be able to shape and meld the earth into whatever forms we desire.

Diggers and Bulldozers will be relics of the past when the laws of physics can be temporarily suspended with highly concentrated energy beams of yet to be discovered wavelengths.

luminous (JUMP006)

Luminous was written and produced by Hungry Man aka Hagop Heath-Matossian, in Cosmic Studio, Dorset, with original sitar written and performed by Jonathan Mayer, a renowned sitar player, composer and co-founder of 'First Hand Records'. He has collaborated with Oasis and Paul Weller amongst many others and has performed across the world.

Hungry Man and Jonathan first met in 2007 when performing alongside Future Sound of London's Garry Cobain in ‘Amorphous Androgynous.’

This took them to Russia, Ukraine, Ireland and numerous UK festivals. In 2019 Hungry Man sent Jonathan some drums and bass instrumentals to play over and Jonathan recorded his sitar parts in his studio in Waltham Abbey and sent them back. Hungry Man is excited to combine a bespoke traditional sitar performance with bassline-style electronic beats, aiming for high energy sweltering sunshine vibes!

The EP includes a twinkly uplifting house remix from Riley Love, a Burning Man regular. Essex based Rokolai’s remix is a full length electro-house epic, inspired by the music of Sebastian Leger. Hungry Man expanded on the swung rhythms from the rave mix to create a UK Garage remix. Jonathan’s original solo sitar performance is included in all its purity.

Hungry Man also created three DJ Tools to enable DJs to use the material freely in their own live mixes and bootlegs.

LOOKIN FLY (JUMP005)

Lookin Fly is a pumped up ravey bassline tune with a halftime Hip-hop intro. Hungry Man is joined by long-time musical collaborator Sam Ritchie of Sam and The Womp who brings trumpet melodies which give the track an extra twist. Remixes from NĒGO and Subwork label honcho Tenz increase the speed into angular footwork / jungle / drum’n’bass directions.

MCMAFIA (JUMP004)

An instrumental synthy 146 bpm roller sitting between glitch-hop, dubstep and grime that has been crafted to get the crowd raving.

McMafia caught the imagination of the Bachelor’s circus students at Stockholm University of the Arts who choreographed the opening piece of their final show to it. This was live streamed during the 2021 lockdown and is the music video for the track.

McMafia sends a fist pump and a high five to every protestor and activist who sets out to disrupt society in order to raise awareness about the downtrodden. These people are risking their safety and livelihoods to protect what is being ravaged by corporations and often the state.

The title was inspired by Misha Glenny's book on global mafia syndicates which includes governments. The vocal samples are Dissident Island's legal advice to protestors who are likely to be arrested in the course of their actions.

NEXT Planet
(JUMP003)

What will the Next Planet we are forced to colonise look like, and how will we need to adapt to survive on it? Will we behave in the same way or will we learn from our mistakes to take better care of what keeps us alive? Next Planet considers this question.

Buy Now Pay Later
(JUMP002)

Buy now Pay Later is a paean to the environmental crisis in which we continue to overstretch our finite resources at an alarming rate. By committing ecocide we are buying now and paying later when it will be too late to restore balance to life on Earth.

The tune was inspired by the critical mass of the Extinction Rebellion and Occupy movements and how they captured the hearts and mind of the UK and the World.

Hungry Man has long been an environmental activist. He wanted to write music capturing this feeling without preaching or complaining.
